Discovering ‘Awesome Tapes From Africa’

While traveling in West Africa, Brian Shimkovitz found himself buying cassette tapes of obscure African musicians.

His collection soon grew to thousands of tapes.

Shimkovitz started a blog and called it “Awesome Tapes from Africa.” He started a record label and will release these tapes onto CD for the first time.
