A global volunteer network with the skills to salvage and restore photographs is increasingly coming to the aid of survivors in recent natural disasters.

Lee Kelly is the founder of the non-profit group called “CARE for Sandy.” Her organization has already made strides in New York, restoring treasured family photos damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Anchor Aaron Schachter speaks with another New Yorker, photo restorer Becci Manson, who helped launch an international network that helped to salvage thousands of family snapshots in the aftermath of Japan’s 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
