Tour de France: Up and Down a Mountain; and Again

The World

For Wednesday's Geo Quiz, we leave the summer heat behind, and head well above sea level to cool, fresh air.

We want you to name the spot of a popular ski resort in the French Alps.

Cyclists in the Tour de France will have to climb the mountain where the resort is located twice, in the same day.

The route, which includes 21 perilous hairpin turns, has been part of the race since 1952, but this is the first year that riders will do the same route twice.

The answer is l'Alpe d'Huez.

We speak with Andrew Hood of VeloNews, who is in France, following the race.
