Russia reacts to Obama win

At this Moscow bookstore, Obama’s book is displayed prominently. It’s only been available for two weeks in Russia but this sales clerk says steady sales of the book will only increase with Obama’s victory. She sees Obama’s election as positive. However, Medvedev wasn’t quite so effusive about Obama during his first speech to Russians as President. The Kremlin offered little warmth and no congratulations but instead he condemned the U.S. for its selfish policies and blamed it for the financial crisis. He also issued a warning about the missile defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic. This political analyst believes Obama could make a good start by focusing on energy issues or terrorism because both countries share the same problems and interests, but if he focuses on Kosovo or Georgia, things won’t be as easy.
