While lawmakers debate a health care plan on the Hill, President Obama is taking his case to the public. Last night he held a nationally televised town hall-style meeting. For a post mortem on Obama’s plan, we have assembled a roundtable of physicians and citizens who are paying close attention to the issue. Joining the conversation is Dr. Peter Ubel, physician and a behavioral scientist. His latest book is Free Market Madness: Why Human Nature is at Odds with Economics–and Why it Matters . Also joining us is Dr. Moitri Savard, a family physician with a private practice in Queens, New York, Precious Lowe, a self-insured Atlanta resident, and Noreen Thompsen. She and her husband run a small hotel on Cape Cod in Eastham, Mass.
At The World, we believe strongly that human-centered journalism is at the heart of an informed public and a strong democracy. We see democracy and journalism as two sides of the same coin. If you care about one, it is imperative to care about the other.
Every day, our nonprofit newsroom seeks to inform and empower listeners and hold the powerful accountable. Neither would be possible without the support of listeners like you. If you believe in our work, will you give today? We need your help now more than ever!
