“The Real Chainsaw Massacre”

GlobalPost
The World

Several months back, GlobalPost published this article on the protected Lao jungles pillaged by Vietnamese logging syndicates, which are believed to supply U.S. furniture markets.

Now one of the more aggressive watchdogs tracking this issue, London's Environmental Investigation Agency, are the protagonists in this highly stylized National Geographic documentary.

There's gunplay, shaky camera work and lots of shirtless men with chainsaws.

Check it out. And, for the record, Vietnam denies one of EIA's most damning claims — that Vietnam's military is complicit in logging protected forests.
