‘The World’: Miami’s Cuban Voters

The World

Every four years, presidential candidates — Republican and Democrats — make the pilgrimage to Miami to pledge their toughness towards Fidel Castro. Cross Miami’s Cubans and cross off the Florida vote.

But this campaign cycle, Barack Obama is ripping up the playbook — he’s calling for less isolation with Cuba. Obama said he talked to Cuban leaders. This was a big policital gamble, and Republicans have been quick to pounce.

PRI’s "The World" brings one-of-a-kind international stories home to America.
