Small Town in North Carolina Hosts International Whistlers Convention

The World

For the Geo Quiz, we are looking for the name of a small town in North Carolina on the banks of the Tar River.

It is where some of the world’s most passionate whistlers have come to take part in an International Whistlers Convention.

Whistlers, young and old, are judged on resonance, intonation and stage presence.

The town itself was founded in the 1770s and was named in the honor of the French King Louis XVI at that time who threw his support behind America in the Revolution.

Louisburg, North Carolina is the answer to the Geo Quiz.

It is there that the annual whistling convention is taking place and participants from far and wide have come to be a part of it.

Anchor Lisa Mullins talks to Yuki Takeda and Molly Lewis, participants from Tokyo and Mullumbimby, Australia respectively.
