‘Court the Storm’ from Oregon-Based Y La Bamba

The World

Luz Elen Mendoza spent her summers among Mexicans immigrants and family members working the fields in the San Joaquin Valley of California.

Those experiences helped form musical themes and images in the songs she has written for her band Y La Bamba.

The band is now based in Portland, Oregon.

Anchor Marco Werman speaks to Mendoza about her experiences and some of her songs.
