Sectary Rice offered the Unite States’ help in investigations into the attacks in Mumbai, to show solidarity with India, and to urge Pakistan to act in bringing the perpetrators to justice:

"I have said that Pakistan needs to act with resolve and urgency and cooperate fully and transparently — that message has been delivered and will be delivered to Pakistan, but it is a time when cooperation between all people who suffer these terrorist attacks really is required …"

"The World" anchor Lisa Mullins finds out more from the BBC’s Tinku Ray in New Delhi.

Ray says Washington can really lessen the tension between the two countries — the Indian government is under a lot of pressure to "do something": "It’s going to be very difficult for the Americans to dampen those emotions."
