For today’s Geo Quiz — find the Large Hadron Collider. The Large Hadron Collider is the world’s newest, largest, and highest-energy particle accelerator.

Scientists hope it will help them answer some pretty big questions. Such as, what was the universe like right after the Big Bang?
And, what’s the real deal with anti-matter?
The facility includes a 17-mile underground circular tunnel on either side of the border between France and Switzerland. For our Quiz, we want you to name the closest big city on the Swiss side.
The city is on the banks of the Rhone River. And it’s the European hub for the United Nations. We’ll name the city in a minute. We’ll also talk to someone who’s translated the science of the Large Hadron Collider into rap.
Here’s a sample:
We introduced a bit of particle physics into our Geo Quiz today. We’re looking for the location of the Large Hadron Collider — or LHC.
The facility was built to smash particles at super-high speeds. Scientists hope that will lead to fundamental new insights into the nature of the cosmos.
Kate McAlpine is a science writer for CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.
That’s the group that built the Large Hadron Collider.
Kate — particle physics is a complicated science that you studied at Michigan State University but here’s an easy question to get started: Where is the Large Hadron Collider located?
Near Geneva the answer to our quiz.
