London Broiling: Brits brace for what they call heat (PHOTOS)

Brits are bracing for the hottest day in their "heat wave" to strike this weekend, with temperatures in London likely to reach 90 degrees Farenheit.

Now, that might not sound that hot to Americans from Death Valley, Calif., where it was 111 degrees on Friday and the mercury regularly tops 100. But still. It's hot, and Brits aren't taking it lightly.

The Met Office has issued heat wave alerts for large parts of England, including Yorkshire and the Humber, which has a 90 percent chance of a heat wave this weekend, according to the BBC.

Here's a photo of what some of our British friends are doing to keep a cool upper lip and all that.

And they are not alone.

Britain is not alone in facing severe temperatures that threaten vulnerable populations. A heat wave that hit Japan a week ago has claimed at least a dozen lives, AFP reported.
