Badam Zari is running for parliament.
She’s the first woman from Pakistan’s Federally-Administered Tribal Areas to do so.
The Tribal Areas, which border Afghanistan, are extremely conservative.
“She wants to fight for the rights of women,” says Rahmanullah, of the BBC’s Pashtu Service.
“She says she has not received any threats from the Taliban,” he adds.
