Afghan Business Owners Pin Hopes On Peace Talks

The World

Kabul-based businesswoman Hassina Syed thinks talks with the Taliban are critical for the Afghan economy.

She heads The Syed Group of Companies, which includes restaurants, hotels and an export-import business.

Syed tells anchor Marco Werman that as US military forces leave her country, she’s already lost the majority of her business.

“I think 60 or 75 percent of damage came up already in my own businesses, and other people’s businesses, especially medium- and small-sized businesses. They are closing down,” Syed says.
