A massive crowd has filled the streets of Cairo on day 18 of Egypt’s uprising. Thursday night, President Hosni Mubarak announced that he has no intentions of leaving office. This announcement sparked rage among the crowds of demonstrators. For an analysis of what happens now is Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, author of “Sowing Crisis: The Cold War and American Dominance in the Middle East“ and “Palestinian Identity.”
