The Cash for Clunkers program has been a huge success in the U.S., blowing through over a billion dollars in a week as Americans traded in their gas guzzlers for a voucher towards a new car purchase. The program is awaiting an additional $2 billion influx of cash from the government to keep going. An overseas version of the program is widely considered a success.
