Kate Middleton, a.k.a. the Duchess of Cambridge, almost let the D-word slip during a rare public appearance on Tuesday.
Middleton, who is due to give birth in July, hinted at the gender of the baby she and Prince William are expecting when she accepted a teddy bear from a well-wisher, Marie Claire reported.
“Thank you, I will take that for my d…” before stopping herself, the Associated Press reported.
After the apparent slip of the tongue, Middleton insisted she and William did not know the sex of their baby.
Sandra Cook, who was standing next to the woman who gave Middleton the white bear, said she is certain the Duchess almost said “daughter.”
“I’m certain it’s a girl. She wouldn’t have said the D-word otherwise. After she said it, she was a little flustered,” Cook said, according to The Sun.
More than 1,000 people turned out to greet the Duchess during her visit to Grimsby in northern England for only her third official engagement this year, The Telegraph reported.
Middleton was hospitalized with acute morning sickness in December
While the sex of the baby will remain top secret, the Duchess did reveal her baby had started kicking.
On the count of three: Awwww.
