Kurt Andersen and folklorist Nick Spitzer talk about how particular places become epicenters of artistic life.
Spitzer is the host of Public Radio International’s American Routes. His radio show celebrates and connects the dots between all kinds of American music from jazz, blues, and rockabilly to country, folk, and soul. He is the former state folklorist for Louisiana. Spitzer’s earlier Folk Masters radio series has been released on CD by Smithsonian Folkways.
