Idaho Town Rallies To Bring Home P.O.W. Bowe Bergdahl

The Takeaway

The end of June marks  four years since Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl was captured while serving in Afghanistan.  Bergdahl is the only American prisoner of war still being held captive by the Taliban.
Earlier this month, Bergdahl’s mother and father received a letter from their son through the International Red Cross. Bowe’s family is hoping that this letter, combined with recent reports that say the Afghan Taliban is willing to trade Bergdahl for five prisoners held at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, might finally bring Bowe home.
Last weekend, in his hometown of Hailey, Idaho,  hundreds of people gathered to show solidarity and rally to support Bowe and his family.
Colonel Tim Marsano, public affairs officer for the Idaho National Guard who acts as media liaison for the Bergdahl family, joins us on the program to discuss how the town is responding and the family’s hope.
