Taking Africa’s temperature, 10 days before its first World Cup

The World

The 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11th in South Africa. This is the first time an African country is hosting the Cup, and the entire continent has caught soccer fever.

We’re taking the temperature with Anjali Nayar, a Canadian freelance journalist based in Nairobi. She’s been traveling across Western Africa since early April and writing about her adventures on “Destination: South Africa,” a blog featured by the FIFA and the CBC. She arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa over the weekend and gives us a few highlights of her trip through the continent as it gears up for the big tournament.
