Not-so-live performance

The World

Pavarotti was a sure fire thing for Italy’s opening ceremonies in 2006. his fame was worldwide and he was a natural choice. But the star’s pianist and conductor says the on stage performance was a fake, that both voice and symphony had been pre-recorded. The reason he says was Pavarotti’s ailing health; Pavarotti died the following year. Even if he’s telling the truth, does it really matter? Nobody would dispute Pavarotti’s ability to perform. But authenticity is important. But in pop music, some kind of artificiality is expectedfor decades, pitch correcting is often used.
