With 21,000 Haitian American students, Miami-Dade schools have struggled with the aftermath of Haiti’s earthquake perhaps more than any other school system in the United States.
Miami has also seen an influx of Haitian students who have fled their home country and enrolled in school in Miami, often without transcripts or past grades. We speak with Miami-Dade superintendent Alberto Carvalho and with Delphine Gervais, a counselor at Miami Edison Senior High School.
