Israel’s reactions to Obama cabinet appointments

Clinton is one of the most popular American politicians in Israel right now and Israel probably would’ve voted for Clinton over Obama in the Democratic primaries. But Israeli politicians are nervous about the incoming Obama administration because it’s quite clear that the blank check from the Bush administration might be over. Secondly, Iran is a main concern and Obama might be a softy on this issue and might change America’s diplomatic policy towards Iran. That could threaten Israel’s support towards the U.S. (Obama said there is much to do from preventing the spread of nuclear weapons to Iran and North Korea and seeing to peace between Israel and Palestine.) Most Israelis have lost faith in the peace process. The decision makers in Israel know this is a new era and Obama’s interests in the Middle East might be very different than Bush’s.
