MB says most people in Sichuan have abandoned their homes, or they’ve put up makeshift shelters and tents in any open space they can find. There’s pouring rain here in western China. (How is that rain hindering rescue efforts?) Well particularly in more isolated areas it’s hindering the efforts, most of those areas are closer to the epicenter as well. (And what about in terms of rescue efforts themselves?) We have been finding the occasional person alive. There are still people alive and trapped. (Is there much a government presence and are they letting in foreign aid?) China has welcomed US aid and has started a massive relief effort itself. There’s plenty of people bringing in food and supplies, sniffer dogs and medical teams, the government has gone all out.
