Life in many ways is uncertain even for those not living in Beirut because it’s hard to tell what the coming days or months might bring. There are fears that Lebanon may be descending into civil war again. This Beirut resident says people may already be thinking about packing up their things. In fact, this mountain resort town in Lebanon is packed. You could live here and have no idea a civil war is going on half an hour away. The town doesn’t normally get crowded until mid June. The manager of the resort says business is booming. This is good for business but it’s not good for the country. This man manages a hotel chain which has closed business for their hotels in Beirut but acknowledges booming business for his hotels outside Lebanon. Most Lebanese, whether in Beirut or not, feel unease about the country’s future, whether or not their business is booming now.
