Two decades of HIV/AIDS Public Service Announcements

BOSTON — The history of HIV/AIDS may be a short one, but in the brief time since its inital discovery in the early 1980s, AIDS has been a leading cause of death worldwide. 

For this disease which, in the early years, had no known cause and was considered to be untreatable and often fatal, the messages surrounding it were often equally dark. However, in the years that have passed since its inception, investments in AIDS research and treatment options have made the prognosis, and the public realtions message, much brighter.

Below, is a historical timeline of HIV/AIDS public service announcements  — the range of which demostrates the ever-changing message surrounding the disease.
