Skulls found in Florida date back 1200 years

Two skulls found in a Florida backyard in January come from Peru, say scientists.

The skulls are 1200 years old and are of a young boy and an older man.

The New York Daily News reported that the skulls were unearthed while construction workers were installing a pool in the backyard.

The skulls were accompanied with pottery, textiles and a newspaper scrap dated back to 1978

“The mystery is how they ended up there,” said medical examiner Jan Garavaglia, according to ABC News.

“We don't have any way of finding out.”

When examined by medical officials the bones were clearly hundreds of years old and had features of Incas.

According to ABC News, Garavaglia teamed up with researchers from the University of Central Florida and Yale to find the origin of the skulls.

They found cloth, which were used as woven materials and non-human hair.

Researchers said that the skulls were likely brought by tourists or migrants many decades or centuries ago when transporting bones was not against the law.
