Nigerian militants attacked two churches today. While no one has come forward to claim responsibility, attacks on Nigeria's churches have been a common tactic used by Islamist group Boko Haram, Reuters reported.
One of the attacks occurred at a church in Biu Town. "Three gunmen came to the premises of the church and started firing at people outside the church before going into the main building to carry on their killings," churchgoer Hamidu Wakawa told Reuters.

At least one person died and several others were injured, the Associated Foreign Press reported.
In the other attack, a suicide bomber drove his car towards a church in Jos, the AFP reported. He didn't make it all the way to the church, but he was close enough to the building that the explosion caused it to collapse. In that attack, at least two have people died.
But the death toll may end up rising. Al Jazeera reported that 48 people were taken to the hospital after the suicide attack, with scores of people feared dead.
