Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong headed to rehab

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong is headed to rehab for treatment for substance abuse following an onstage meltdown at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday night.

The announcement came on Sunday, after a clip of Armstrong's profanity laced tirade about the band's performance time being cut went viral. In the clip, Armstrong said, "I’m not f–ing Justin Bieber, you motherf–ers!" before smashing his guitar.

Entertainment Weekly said some believed that Green Day's set was cut by 20 minutes after Usher's ran over. The band was given a one minute notice to wrap up their set, and Armstrong went into his rant. "You’re gonna give me one minute?! I’ve been around since f–ing nineteen eighty f–king eight, and you’re gonna give me one minute?! You’ve gotta be f–ing kidding me!"

The Associated Press said Green Day apologized for the incident in a statement, saying that their set was not cut short by Clear Channel. The Grammy winning band is due to release its album "Uno" on Tuesday, but has canceled some of its promotional appearances.
