Anonymous, the mysterious hacker group released a manifesto Thursday vowing revenge on Israel for an escalating offensive in Gaza.

"For far to long, Anonymous has stood by with the rest of the world and watched in despair the barbaric, brutal and despicable treatment of the Palestinian people in the so called "Occupied Territories" by the Israel Defense Force," read the statement.

"To the people of Gaza and the "Occupied Territories", know that Anonymous stands with you in this fight."

The group's new campaign #OpIsrael comes after rumors that Israeli forces would shut down telecommunications in Gaza, including the internet.

"As the former dictator of Egypt Mubarack learned the hard way – we are ANONYMOUS and NO ONE shuts down the Internet on our watch," they wrote.

The group had already attacked the website of the Phillipine embassy in Israel writing on its page "F*** Israel" with a video posted.

The site was recently brought back to normal.

The Express Tribune said that the group had hacked the Israel Defense Forces website earlier but it appears to be back online.

It also reported that Anonymous had hacked a "top Israeli security and surveillance website http://falcon-s.co.il," which was still down as this article was being written.

Anonymous also provided a link to a "care package" in the manifesto, which is claims is a set of web tools in case internet is severed.

The group has said in the past that it would align itself against government repression, particularly in regards to the internet.

It has previously been involved in diverse issues from supporting Wikileaks to finding cyber bullies.

It has since pulled its support for Wikileaks reported GlobalPost.
