Todd Akin ‘regrets’ rape comments, talks comeback (VIDEO)

Former congressman Todd Akin says he regrets his infamous "legitimate rape" comments, but isn't ruling out another run for office.
The US Senate candidate from Missouri made headlines worldwide last summer when he said he believed pregnancy could be prevented in "legitimate rape" because a woman's body has a way of trying to "shut that whole thing down."

In an interview with KSDK in St. Louis, Akin says he'd take back those six seconds if he could.
"I've relived them too many times," he said. "But that is not reality."
Akin also told the TV station he doesn't believe a woman's body can somehow "stop" a pregnancy during rape.

"No, no and I apologized for that," he said. "All of us are fallible. We make mistakes, and we say things the wrong way."
But despite the drubbing he took from Democratic incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill and being alienated by many Republicans, Akin said he's not ready to give up on politics just yet.
“It’s one of those things that depends on the circumstances really. I don’t rule anything out,” he told KSDK. “I consider it a bright new future and I’m interested to see what the possibilities are.”
