HOLLYWOOD, CA – FEBRUARY 26: Presenters Rose Byrne (L) and Melissa McCarthy speak onstage during the 84th Annual Academy Awards held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on February 26, 2012 in Hollywood, California.
As part of their Global Attitudes Project, the Pew Center asked the populations of 40 different countries the following question:
Do you personally believe that drinking alcohol is morally acceptable, morally unacceptable, or is it not a moral issue?
We charted their results and found the top 10 places where it's culturally acceptable to get blackout drunk, and the top 10 places where you probably shouldn't order that second drink, or maybe just stick to soda.

Unsurprisingly, many of the places that are strongly against alcohol use are also countries with majority Muslim populations.
Pew also found variance in opinion depending on the gender of the responder. For example, 44 percent of Russians say that drinking is morally acceptable, but Russian women are less supportive of alcohol use (32 percent find it morally acceptable) than Russian men (52 percent).
