Little league raffle features AR-15 assault rifle prize

A little league raffle fundraiser in an Illinois town features an AR-15 assault rifle as its top prize.

The Atwood-Hammond league is raffling the gun to purchase equipment for its twelve baseball teams.

The Daily News said the Atwood Armory donated the rifle, which is worth about $2000.

The hope was to surpass the $10 the league raised in the raffle last year.

So far they've sold $1600 in tickets.

“We could have went with a basic shotgun or something simple,” league commissioner Steven McClain said, according to CBS Chicago 2.

“But obviously it’s not going to draw the attention, not going to draw the volume we’re hoping to make.”

The winner of the rifle will still have to undergo a background check

Tickets are $20 each and there's still time to buy.
