How much oil is really gushing into the Gulf?

Two weeks ago the federal government estimated that about five thousand barrels of crude could be leaking into the Gulf of Mexico. However, it is becoming clear that the estimate is too small. John Amos, founder and president of Skytruth, a nonprofit organization that uses satellite images to investigate environmental issues, says the estimate should be closer to 27,000 barrels of oil per day.

Amos explains how his organization used satellite images to recalibrate the number, and believes that by examining video showing the oil gusher, one could get a more accurate estimate. Video is below:
