Pitched battles raged around the main airport in Damascus for a second day Friday, as Syrian rebels ramped up their effort to topple President Bashar al-Assad.
While the rebel forces seem to be picking up momentum, the Syrian government still has lots of big arms.
Its air force jets pummeled several insurgent positions near the airport Friday.
Rebel communications were hampered as Syria’s internet and telephone systems were shutdown for a second day running.
But Amer al-Sadeq of the Syrian Revolution Coordinators Union in Damascus says he and other opposition activists are finding ways to work around the communication blackout.
