Mixed reports on death of Gadhafi’s son

Rebel officials say Khamis Gadhafi, Moammar Gadhafi’s youngest son, was among the 33 troops reported to be killed after a NATO airstrike. The Libyan government denies the reports.

The strike took place in the western town of Zlitan, currently a stronghold for Gadhafi forces and considered to be key territory in the rebels’ advancement toward the capital of Tripoli.

“You’ve got to take Zlitan if you’re the rebels and you want to take Tripoli,” James Reynolds, the BBC’s correspondent in Libya, told Here and Now.

Reynolds was taken through Zlitan by Gadhafi officials, and said he thought Ghaddafi forces still had control of the town. He heard explosions, which he was told were headed out towards the rebel-controlled town of Misrata.
