Iraq and the Election

The World

The United States is entering its sixth year in Iraq, and the War remains the biggest foreign policy issue in the 2008 Presidential election campaign. When it comes to an exit strategy for Iraq, the contrast between the Republican John McCain and the two Democratic candidates is stark.

Is Iraq a major issue for you in the election?

As "The World’s" Mathew bell reports, all three candidates have yet to fill in the blanks. While John McCain says "never surrender," Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are saying "bring the troops home."

But what gets lost in the campaign rhetoric about ending the war is just how difficult logistics are.

PRI’s "The World" brings one-of-a-kind international stories home to America. Each weekday, host Lisa Mullins guides listeners through major issues and stories, linking global events directly to the American agenda. The show is produced by BBC World Service, PRI, WGBH Radio Boston, and distributed nationwide by PRI.
