With President Bush leaving office in nine months, today’s speech was a sort of swan song and he was quick to point out that things are moving in the right direction, citing economic factors amongst other things. Bush also accepted General Petraeus’s recommendations on troop deployment, and Mr. Bush announced they would be decreased, back to the pre-surge levels. Before finishing, Bush addressed the troops themselves. But the President didn’t say exactly when he thought all troops might come home from Iraq, and neither has the Republican presidential nominee, John McCain who supports the administration’s policy on Iraq. Meanwhile, Obama said there’s no end in sight for Iraq with Bush’s policy. Clinton has been demanding answers about where the Bush policy in Iraq is heading, and she’s not the only one. This analyst says Bush has failed to give troops and their families real answers. The analyst says we’re stuck in Iraq.
