That was the non-violent rebellion against communism in what was then Czechoslovakia.
It was one of the pivotal events leading to the collapse of the Soviet Bloc in Eastern Europe.
Former Czech President Václav Havel led the peaceful revolution in 1989. Havel died Sunday. He was 75.
His writings on non-violent opposition to tyranny have become a source of inspiration to other pro-democracy movements around the world.
