Obama administration plans to close Guantanamo prison

Transition officials say that President-elect Obama will issue an executive order calling for the closing of the prison at Guantanamo Bay on his first day in office. But it’s going to take time, possibly as long as a year, to sort out the fates of the remaining 248 prisoners. Vijay Padmanabhan, Professor at Cardozo School of Law and formerly an attorney adviser in the State Department with a responsibility for detainee issues, talks to The Takeaway about the complexities of resigning Gitmo to history.
