Chris from Tulsa, Okla. called in to say, “I remember a stir about human hair’s ability to absorb many times its own weight in oil. I have never, ever, ever heard any more word about it.” We looked into this, and indeed, there is a way to use hair to create mats that can help soak up the oil. An organization called Matter of Trust is collecting donated hair from salons, groomers, and individuals.
