The World
The World

For today’s Geo Quiz we’re looking for the land bridge that links southwest Asia with Africa.

This triangular peninsula is bounded by Israel’s Negev Desert and the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. The Mediterranean lies to the north. The Gulf of Suez and the Suez Canal are to its west. And the Red Sea is to the south.

Moses was its most famous explorer. This is where he led the Israelites after they escaped bondage in Egypt.

And it’s on a mountain top here that Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments.

It’s been a strategic battleground throughout the ages. Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, and Turks have all fought to control this peninsula. Centuries later Lawrence of Arabia marched across the sands here.

And in the decades that followed World War II, the Egyptians and Israelis battled here many times

We were looking for the land bridge that links southwest Asia with Africa. Are you still wandering in the desert?

Well … time is up.

The answer to today’s Geo-Quiz is: the Sinai Peninsula.
