The World

Today’s Geo Quiz sends us to the Tyrolean Alps. We’re searching for a lake near Innsbruck, Austria. In travel brochures, it’s often described as pristine and emerald green.

It’s the largest lake in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The snow capped peaks that surround this lake attract skiers throughout the winter months.

The summer scenery brings out singers and pianists. Dozens come each summer to attend the Tyrolean Opera Program. Several weeks of intensive training in classical opera…. and a chance to sing to the mountains.

So name this Austrian lake where if you listen closely you might hear the echoes of a Mozart aria.

We’ll pay a visit to the opera camp here…

For our Geo Quiz we were looking an Austrian lake where strains of Mozart and Verdi echo in the air.

?The answer to the Geo Quiz is the Achensee, the largest lake in the state of Tyrol and it is where the Tyrolean Opera Program takes place every summer.?

Elizabeth Bachman is within sight of the Achensee right now…she’s artistic director of the international summer camp for aspiring opera singers and pianists.

Artistic Director Elizabeth Bachman sent us that “cellphone postcard” from the Tyrolean Opera Program near the Achensee, the answer to our Geo Quiz. Listen:
