But the Art Deco architectural gem endured it all to become a New York City icon.
Today the 77 story Chrysler Building has a new owner. We want you to guess who bought it for 800 million dollars.
A Persian Gulf emirate sealed the deal for a 75 percent stake. It’s one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, in fact it’s the largest one.
The emirate’s capital city is home to many chic hotels and skyscrapers, and soon a new branch of the Guggenheim Museum.
So, try and name the new owner of one of New York’s signature skyscrapers.
For our Geo Quiz we were looking for the name of the new owner of the Chrysler Building.
The Manhattan skyscraper eclipsed the Eiffel Tower in 1930 by 61 feet, only to be outdone a year later by the Empire State building.
The Chrysler building was bought today for 800 million dollars by the Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
So the answer to the quiz is the Gulf emirate of Abu Dhabi.
One source close to the deal who already owns a hotel on boardwalk said “it’s all one big monopoly game.”
