Arab-Americans Reflect on Uprisings Back Home

The Takeaway

As popular uprisings spread through the Middle East, threatening autocratic governments and promoting fundamental social change, we check in again with several Arab-Americans living in New York, who have been reflecting on the upheaval and its meaning for their friends and family.

Nancy Yousef  came to America from Egypt, and now works as a Professor of English Literature at CUNY Baruch in New York. Naima Nour moved to the United States from Tunisia ten years ago and is the founder and director of the Tunisian Cultural & Information Center USA. Raja Althaibani, from Yemen,  is currently working on her BA in Human Rights and International Development.
