In the battle for physical and sexual supremacy, human tactics haven’t progressed much past the lowly dung beetle. We may have brains capable of producing art and science, and we don’t spend our days hauling around dung (well, most of us don’t, anyway), but otherwise — not much has changed.
Aroostook County, Maine is responsible for producing billions of pounds of potatoes each year. Potato Beetles have been known to decimate potato plants, but a new hybrid superspud has been genetically engineered to create its own pesticide to try and outsmart the adaptable beetle pests once and for all.
