In the ongoing series, “The Big Fix,” The World reports on what communities, individuals, governments and businesses are doing to tackle the climate crisis.
Left to right: Smoke from a wildfire over the sky in Athens, Greece; a woman walks in the village of Louri in the Mao region of Chad during a period of drought; students hold up a banners during a rally in front of the parliament in Athens, Greece; the Atlantic rainforest in Brazil is a beacon for global forest restoration.
The importance of tackling climate change has never been clearer. But despite all the science that has accumulated over more than 30 years about its perils, planet-warming emissions continue to rise.
The good news is that climate solutions are now more accessible than ever. The cost of wind and solar power, for example, has plummeted in the last decade. Expanding existing efforts to reduce deforestation and increase energy efficiency has the potential to significantly slash emissions.
In the ongoing series, “The Big Fix,” The World reports on what communities, individuals, governments and businesses are doing to cut emissions, as well as adapting to the impacts of climate change that are already being felt.
