Mitt Romney, Jon Stewart and Bain Capital

GlobalPost

Jon Stewart and the brainy writers at The Daily Show know a good satire opportunity when they see one.

Enter Mitt Romney, and his tenure at private equity firm Bain Capital, fresh off his primary victory in Florida.

Of course, Romney has staked his electability claims on his time in the private sector, specifically as co-founder of the very successful Boston private equity firm Bain Capital.

Maybe that wasn't such a smart idea, at least when applied to the late night fake news crowd.

As I've noted in the past, Stewart and the Daily Show are highly effective at shaping public opinion on serious matters, particularly with the large number of younger Americans — and many older ones, too — who get their daily news-slash-entertainment from the show.

So it's no surprise that Stewart and gang have taken sharp aim at Bain's practices, including leveraged buyouts that led to company bankruptcies and huge profits for the company.

Here's the money quote:

"Mitt Romney's pitch to Americans: Elect me as your president. I have 25 years business experience doing something this country should never, ever do," Stewart said.
