More wild weather

Last week we mentioned how some scientists believe global climate change is responsible for a year of extreme weather. This week, Brazil’s National Meteorology Institute documented yet another record. It’s not over yet but this January has already proven the rainiest in history for Sao Paulo. Chronic flooding has occurred throughout the city in recent weeks, though it’s been dwarfed by the catastrophe in the mountains north of Rio de Janeiro. Some two weeks after the floods and landslides there, rescuers have recovered 832 bodies, and the list of those still missing now holds 541 names.
