Virgin America, Singapore Airlines expand frequent flyer partnership

Earlier this week Virgin America and Singapore Airlines expanded their existing partnership to allow frequent flyers to earn and redeem points, or miles, for travel on either carrier.

The airlines entered into an agreement in December 2012 where each carrier placed its two-letter code on flights operated by the other airline. This allows for the purchase of a single ticket when a traveler flies both airlines on the same itinerary.

And now members of Virgin America's Elevate frequent flyer program will earn points for trips including Singapore Airlines flights. Likewise, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members will earn miles for trips including Virgin America flights.

To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Virgin America is offering a Facebook promotion giving Elevate members 500 points and the chance to win two round-trip economy class tickets on Singapore Airlines to Tokyo, Seoul or Hong Kong.
